ABOUT

TWO DUDES (Jan-Basiel & Milan).
ONE COLLECTIVE (BRAK COLLECTIVE).

Founded while studying graphic design in Ghent, our shared passion for design grounded in reality brought us together. We run a design studio where we create visual identities shaped through close collaboration with our clients — resulting in work that feels authentic, direct, and made to fit.

Alongside this, we maintain an artistic practice rooted in typography — reshaping letters into abstract forms and printing them onto materials such as metal, stone, and glass.

Projects

When starting a project, we begin by talking with our clients searching for what defines them. That essence we translate into visuals that feel right for who they are.

This close way of working together results in branding that’s unique to every client. We never fully know what we’re going to create — and that openness in our process is exactly what leads to our most distinctive work.

When building a brand, we always keep a strong focus on print. In a world filled with screens, we believe physical work leaves a deeper impression — that’s why we keep print at the core of what we do.

Artistic practice

We’re both deeply fascinated by typography and materials.

These two come together in our artistic practice, where we start by transforming found typography into abstract forms that reference the context in which they’re created. That context is essential to us — even when the letters become illegible.

The resulting designs are then applied onto different materials.

Over the past year, we’ve been expanding our research beyond our own practice by working each month with a different artist. These collaborations will culminate in a group exhibition (soon to be announced).

Location

You can find us hunched behind our laptops or meticulously cutting vinyl for our next expo — all from what we call our bunker.

It’s located on top of an old Fluvius warehouse, just next to the center of Ghent.

When we first discovered this space, we knew it was perfect — not only as our atelier, but also as a future exhibition space.

Soon, we’ll open this industrial bunker with curated vernissages by yours truly.
